Growing up I was fortunate to get to spend my summers with my granddaddy Caldwell. A lot of this time was spent fishing and I remember my granddaddy catching the biggest fish I had ever seen, I knew it probably weighed 20 pounds or more when in reality it was only 6-7 pounds. That is when my competitive spirit was born. I was determined to out fish, out catch my granddaddy. I bought my first boat when I was 15/16 years old. It was a flat bottom boat with no motor but that didn’t stop me. I would row out on the lake and bass fish. At age 20 I started competitive bass fishing with local Evening Pot Tournaments before moving on to fish with Sand Mountain Bass Masters, DeKalb Bass Master, Hawg’s Holler Team Bass and North Alabama Bass Tournament Trail. During this time I learned a great deal about fishing, such as where and how to locate the bass at different times of the year/season, which baits or techniques to use etc.… by covering lots and lots of water. As time progressed and I was able to improve on my boats, electronics and fishing gear as well my technique/style. I fished several years in Anglers Choice and was Angler of the Year 2 different times.
In 2001 I stepped back from fishing for a few years to be more proactive in my hosiery mill business and to grow my cattle and poultry farm. However; fishing was in my blood and it wasn’t long before I was back on the water fishing competitively again. I joined back up with the DeKalb Bass Masters and fished the ABT trail. Most recently I have been able to fulfill a lifelong dream, to fish with B.A.S.S. I joined the B.A.S.S. OPEN Southern/Central division series in February 2022 and will be fishing as a member of TEAM VET in the coming months. The Lord has truly blessed me over the years I have been fortunate enough to catch more than 17 bass weighing 8 pounds or more, with the largest bass weighing in at 11 pounds caught on Lake Eufaula.
